What a virtual number actually is

It is a real number on a real carrier range — the same kind your customers already dial. The difference is that it terminates on our network rather than at a physical exchange, so where it rings is a setting rather than a cable. Move office, change staff, add a night schedule: the number does not care.

Why the country matters

People are far more likely to answer, and to call back, a number that looks local to them. A Nairobi business with a +254 20 number gets answered; the same business calling from an unfamiliar international range does not. Buying a number in your customer's country is usually cheaper than the calls it saves.

Routing is not permanent

A number starts unrouted, and callers hear a network message until you point it somewhere. After that you can change the destination as often as you like at no cost — to a different extension, to a ring group during business hours and voicemail outside them, or straight to a mobile while someone is travelling.

Questions people actually ask

Can I keep my existing number?

Yes — porting is supported for most ranges. Open a support request with the current provider and account details and we will confirm the timeline, which is typically five to fifteen working days depending on the country.

What happens if I stop paying for a number?

A renewal that cannot be charged puts the number into a seven-day grace period, and we tell you. After that it returns to inventory and may be taken by someone else, so top up before the grace period ends.

Do inbound calls cost extra?

Calls arriving on your number and delivered to your extension are included in the monthly rental. Forwarding an inbound call to an external number creates a second outbound leg, and that leg is charged at the normal rate.

Can one number ring several people?

Yes. Point it at a ring group and it rings everyone at once, in sequence, or round-robin, with your choice of timeout and fallback.
