Terms of service

Last updated 28 Jul 2026

This document is not yet complete. The registered legal entity name and company registration number have not been set. Until they are, this document names the trading brand only and should not be relied on as a final agreement. See config/company.php.

These terms govern your use of VOIP.SO. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and we have tried to say plainly what happens in the situations that actually arise.

1. The agreement

By creating an account you accept these terms, the acceptable use policy and the privacy policy. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens on your account, including calls placed with your SIP credentials. Treat those credentials like a bank password. If you believe they have been exposed, rotate them from the portal immediately — that is why the button exists and it takes effect within seconds.

You must give accurate contact details and keep them current. We use them to reach you about faults, billing and legal notices, and an unreachable account is one we may suspend.

3. Charges and payment

The service is prepaid. Calls are charged per second from your balance at the rate published at voip.so/rates when the call connects. Number rentals are charged monthly in advance. Plan fees are charged for the period stated at signup.

Rates can change with our carrier costs. We will publish changes before they take effect. The rate applied to any call is the one in force at connection, and every call on your statement shows the rate it was charged at, so you can check.

Unused credit does not expire and is refundable on request, less any amounts already consumed. We do not refund charges for calls that connected.

4. If a payment fails

Outbound calling stops when your balance is exhausted. Inbound calls to your numbers keep working. A number rental that cannot be charged enters a seven-day grace period, and we will tell you. After that the number returns to inventory and may be allocated to someone else — we cannot guarantee recovering it.

5. Service availability

We aim for continuous availability and publish what we commit to in the service level document. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and no VoIP provider honestly can. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where the work allows it.

6. Emergency calling

VOIP.SO is not a replacement for a traditional telephone line for emergency calls. Emergency service access depends on the country, the number, and whether your device is at the address registered against it. A device can move; a fixed line cannot. Calls will not connect during a power cut or an internet outage at your premises. Keep another means of reaching emergency services.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend an account immediately where we detect fraud, toll abuse, or activity that endangers the network or other customers, and we will tell you why. For anything less urgent, we will contact you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to resolve it.

You may close your account at any time from the portal or by contacting us. Remaining credit is refundable; numbers are released and cannot be reclaimed once reallocated.

8. Liability

Our liability to you for any claim is limited to the charges you paid us in the three months before it arose. We are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or lost data. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email at least thirty days before they take effect, and continuing to use the service after that date means you accept them. If you do not, you may close your account and take a refund of unused credit.

10. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and disputes are subject to the courts of Mogadishu.
